So much to do so little time

With the holidays already upon us...it seems that there is always so much to do and so little time.
I took a holiday job at The Buckle. I love love love it. I love my discount (don't ask me share I can't), I love the clothes, I love the people I work with. It is nice to get out of the house and do something for me. However this doesn't leave a whole lot of time in my days when I work.
The kids are busy with school, projects, programs, parent teacher conferences, field-trips and more.
Then there are the after school activities, soccer, scouts, achievment days (soon to be replaced by Young Womens), end of the season parties, and more.
On top of it all I have to keep our home clean, cook meals and be the tutor when my kiddos need help with homework.
And in my spare time I am trying to decorate our home for the holidays. Last night I finally got our tree up. This year we decided on a real one! I forgot how good they smell and the amount of water it takes to keep it alive!!

In my quest to be a better example to my children...I am trying to read more! If you don't know this about me...I HATE to read. I have better things to do with my time. There is one exception however...the book has to capture me and then that is all that I will do until it is complete.
I saw the movie trailer for "Nights in Ronanthe" a couple of weeks ago and decided then and there that I would go and see this opening night (so if you are interested let me know...a girls night out perhaps?). The song is what got me...I love Gavin Rossdale and he sings the song that is played in the trailer, at the moment one of my favs!

Anyway...back to the reason for the post. I was walking through Taget and saw the book. I thought that I could read it and then go see the movie. Well, I finished the book and knew that it would be a tearjerker because it was written my Nicholas Sparks. I should know better....shame on me. (If you don't know he is the author of "the Notebook" and "A Walk To Remember". Two of my all time favorites!)

I was a mess at the end of the book. Devestated. I think that the movie may be ruined for me. I think that I would have rather just seen the movie. Why did I have to do the right thing and be an example to my kids by reading??!!

More than an Obsession

So as posted previously, last Friday (the 15th of August) I purchased and began reading Twilight. Intrigued by all that I had heard it was time to see what all the hype was over. I didn't/couldn't put it down and by 4:00pm on Saturday the 16th I had finished it and was on my way to Target to pick up book #2. While I was perusing through the book isle I noticed the final 2 books in the series and thought to myself "why not?". So I picked up the 3 books remaining books. I am sure people thought I was nuts to what do I care?
So when I returned home I locked my self in my room and continued my story with Bella and Edward. I was emotional invested in these two now and needed to know how their story would turn out. I stopped briefly to watch Michael and the other 3 Americans win the gold and then it was back to my/our world. By early Sunday evening (the 17th of August) I had completed the 2nd book and was "thirsty" for more. So I continued on my quest with my new friends.
I have only just begun book 3. Getting back to the "real world" was difficult this morning. I would be perfectly content to stay in bed and finish the story of my new friends. It is not likely that I will go through the next 2 with the swiftness of the 2 before. However I do have a goal to finish them by the end of the weekend.
***Update***
I finished the 3rd installment late late late last night (Monday August 18th) (quite possibly early this a.m.)
I have not had time to start the 4th and final (so we think). But luck is on my side as there is soccer practice tonight....so I will have time to dive in!! I am so excited to see how Bella and Edward's story "ends".

Have you been biten by the phenomenon that is "Twilight"?

(once I finish the Breaking Dawn I will give my opinion of each book...in case you care!!)

Twilight

These are the girls who got me hooked...thanks ladies!!
:)

So we were in Irvine California last weekend for a soccer tournament. We went early so we could hang out at the beach. While we were there one of the players on the Ballistic '92 girls team was reading a book. When I asked about it I was informed that it was the 4th in a series by Stephenie Meyer.

Later in the weekend I saw several mothers of the players who had one of the books in the series as well. I asked about the books again and was intrigued.

So I gave into my curiosity yesterday and went to Target and purchased the first in the series...Twilight. As I was in the check out line a woman said to me, "you won't be able to put it down". I told her that I hated to read and the last series I read was "Harry Potter". She went on, "if you liked those books you will enjoy these as well", she also told my children that they probably wouldn't see me for a while. She was right....when I am into a book I stick with it until its done!! Sorry kids!

So last night while at sitting at soccer practice I began to read. I have not put it down. (Well, I did to watch Michael Phelps with an unbelievable 7th gold medal win....that is another blog in itself!!)

I hate reading it is not one of my top 10 things to do....but this is captivating. Go get it if you haven't!! You won't be sorry!!
